Bookkeeper - Accountant - who does what ?
Can you 'eliminate' your bookkeeper?
So much has been written in the past few weeks about bookkeepers and collaboration with accountants that of course - being me - I cannot help but weigh in on the debate. It is easy to react but after some pondering... here are my thoughts....
First of all as a client - let’s get your perspective - after all you are the reason we do this!
What’s the stink about ?
Who do you engage with ? Is the accountant the HOLY GRAIL or do you listen to the bookkeeper who you see day in - day out ?
I feel for you - WHO to believe - WHO to listen to ?
The end result is - BOTH
If the accountant and bookkeeper relationship is working correctly BOTH will be able to provide you - the client - with awesome results and advice
Let’s face it - bookkeepers and accountants have different end games but ultimately their aim is to service you as a client - to ensure your business success. In my world we have mutual respect and are truly 'client focussed'.
In a perfect world I see it like this …
YOU as a business owner have a problem - you engage with EITHER your bookkeeper OR accountant and either REALISE who DOES what and ensure you get serviced by what you need .
END OF STORY
No more accountants cold calling clients telling them to “Eliminate their bookkeeper”
Instead in my world they would engage you in activating an immense opportunity of resources at your disposal
Bookkeeper - accountant - client - ITS ALL ABOUT COLLABORATION
We as accountants and bookkeepers have an amazing opportunity to provide our clients with immense value - we need to NOT fight about the toys in the sandpit - we need to NOT lose sight of the fact that the client is our core mission!
End of story - the end - Fine!
And as a client it's the triple win !
